Dataverse Networks allow you to create your own dataverse - an online virtual archive where you can upload and distribute data, or use data from other dataverses in the Network or define a set of data collections. You can customize your dataverse to have the look and feel of the rest of your web site (by giving us your site's style information and clipping a little HTML we give you into your site). Although you do not need to install any software or manage any hardware to have a dataverse, your dataverse will have all the considerable services of a professional archive, automated by the Dataverse Network Project.
Individuals or Groups That Use Dataverses
- Data set authors, to distribute and receive scholarly recognition and formal citations to their own data.
- Scholarly journals, to organize their replication data archives.
- Teachers, to summarize the data used in their scholarly field, or to offer online analyses of specific studies for class.
- Research centers, to present data sets in their field, or which they funded.
- Granting agencies, to guarantee that the data they funded are publicly available, and to publicize the data they helped create.
- Academic departments and scholarly societies, to organize data in their fields for their students and faculty.
- Major research projects, to present the data sets they created (for funders and others) of their work.
What You Can Do With Your Dataverse
When your dataverse is created, you are its administrator. You click the My Options link in the top, right menubar to access all the admin functions. You may also delegate rights to others to edit your site (known as curators) or to contribute data sets to your site (known as contributors).
